Biography

Weilu Liu holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the School of Central China Normal University in Wuhan, and a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. 


She has performed all over the world from China to Italy and the United States. She has performed at Central China Normal University, Schwob School of Music, Spring Harbor and the Columbus Museum. She was 2016 and 2017 Schwob School Concerto Competition finalist. With her masterful skill and touch she is renowned for impressive performances.

She took part in many music festivals and masterclasses, such as the 3rd International piano festival in Italy, Taihai international music festival, and International Keyboard & Institute Festival in New York. 

During festivals, Weilu studied with Prof. John Perry, pianist Karina Sabac, Prof. Joel Schoenhals, famous Prof. Albert Mamriev from Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, Prof. Alexander Kobrin, Prof. Giuliano Mazzoccante. 

Since 2016, Weilu has officially studied with Prof. Alexander Kobrin who won Van Cliburn international piano competition in 2005, Dr. Eric Zuber, Prof. Tatiana Muzanova, as well as world-famous Steinway artist Dr. Henry Kramer who won second prize of Queen Elizabeth international piano competition in 2016.

She has won several awards, first prize of ‘Taihai’ international music festival 2014 in Taiwan, first prize of ‘Changjiang’ piano competition 2014 in China, and ‘Outstanding Performer’’ of GMTA piano competition 2018 in the United States. She was twice invited to play recitals and give speeches at Central China Normal University in 2017 and 2019. In 2020, she was also invited to give a speech and performance at Rainey-McCullers school in Columbus, Georgia. 

During the 4 years at Schwob, she received graduate assistantship and has been working as a collaborative pianist. She has worked with wonderful student string players, woodwinds, brass players, and singers. As well as chamber artists such as Professor Sergiu Schwartz, concerts with fantastic violist Miles Hoffman, masterclass with famous Calidore string quartet in 2019. 

She was invited to attend Southeastern Regional NOA Conference Opera Scenes as a collaborative pianist in 2020. Additionally, she has 3 years experience of collaborating with CSU Philharmonic Orchestra and 1 year of CSU Wind Ensemble, 1 semester of contemporary ensemble. In 2020, she was hired by CSU collaborative piano department as faculty, concerts and she attends up to 50 recitals a year. 

She was introduced to Saint James the Great Anglican Church as a musician in December 2016. She also played for Edgewood Presbyterian Church, Living Word Church, Living Grace Methodist Church, and multiple other churches in the past 6 years. She also has been a private piano teacher for students of all ages for 7 years.
